Welcome to Mallard, Iowa!
Home of the Friendly Ducks!
Mallard, IA was founded in 1882 after a railroad line was completed from Fort Dodge to Mallard, with some of the first businesses and homes being established shortly after the railroad completion. Officially incorporated as a city in 1895, Mallard received its name from railroad president and avid hunter, Charles E. Whitehead, from the many Mallard Ducks inhabiting the area. During the years that followed, many businesses, farmers, school, homes and people became part of the community to make Mallard, Iowa, "The Home of the Friendly Ducks."
Thank you Reuel and Jean Carmichael
